Yesterday, in the streets of central Paris, a young lady cut into my path and almost ran into me. I stopped to avoid a human collision. She gave me the look as if she was in the right. I was in shock with a neutral look of common courtesy. Immediately afterwards, it crossed my mind that perhaps I should get myself ready for a dirty-look reflex for such situations in the future. However, on reflection, why should I change my own attitude for impolite people and get down to their level. No, I don’t want to become one of those arrogant and rude Parisians that people despise.
