Job Search (#6: Humility)

My current job search experience reminded me of my previous experience in New York a couple of decades ago. When I finished my 18-month post-graduate studies in New York, I started looking for my first job there. It was really difficult for a foreigner without prior working experience nor a strong personal network. By God’s grace and help of my friends, I finally managed to land my first job and progressed quite well thereafter. Today even though I have a lot of international experience in my field, I need to be humble and start from “square one” as if it was my first job in life (my life in France). I continue to stay positive and optimistic on this journey.

En recherche d’emploi (#6: L’humilité)
Mon expérience de la recherche d’emploi actuellement me rappelle mon expérience à New York il y a plusieurs décennies. Quand j’ai fini mes études à New York après 18 mois et j’ai commencé à chercher mon premier travail là-bas. C’était vraiment difficile pour un étranger sans expérience ni réseau très fort. Grâce à dieu et mes amis, j’ai finalement réussi et j’ai ensuite progressé pas mal jusqu’à aujourd’hui. Maintenant même si j’ai beaucoup d’expérience internationale dans mon domaine, je dois être humble et je recommence à zéro comme si c’était le premier poste de ma vie (en France). Je continue à rester positif et optimiste.
